In 1992, Larkfield Depot in Glasgow suffered a severe fire which wiped out over 100 buses.
With a desperate vehicle shortage, Strathclyde's Buses was forced to hire or buy whatever it could from other operators and amongst
the buses hired were a number of Tayside Ailsas - a good choice considering the number of Ailsas already operated.
The hired-in buses were allocated 'C' fleet numbers applied in a style not disimilar to that used by the Corporation - no reflective fleet plates were produced for these buses.
This is another ABC Ailsa model and is fitted with the same modifications as my other models. In addition to this though is the
centre door and associated interior fittings. This is a casting taken from my dual door Atlantean model and adapted to suit the Ailsa body.
The upstairs rear window was fitted with a pillar and the smaller headlights specified in Dundee are also represented. The unique
application of Strathclyde livery on the ends but the original operator's livery elsewhere was common in Glasgow for a time after
the fire and I may produce another model on a similar theme in due course.
